I recently bought a Fuji 3800 with an xD Picture Card. I had planned to also get an HP Photosmart 7350 printer with the memory card slots on the front (so I could travel with the printer). What I didn't realize was that the 7350 is not compatible with the Fuji card. Am I out of luck, or does anybody know of another way to connect the camera to the printer (maybe through USB or something), or of another printer that would be compatible? Thanks for any insight or help!

So basically, what you're saying is that your Fuji takes a xD card and the printer takes a CF card? I do believe there are adapters where you can insert an xD card into a CF adapter slot. I think. Maybe someone can help me out here.

It looks like you will be ok...I think. I hate how many different names there are for all the different card types, but here is a quote from the HP website about the 7350 pritner...

"Memory card slots support CompactFlash Type I and II, SmartMedia, Secure Digital, MultiMedia cards and Sony Memory Stick"

So it sounds like it supports just about every card type out there, and I think the XD fits into the MultiMedia or Secure Digital card type, doesn't it?

Nope - XD is not compatable with SD/multimedia. It's a whole new ballgame.

Your best bet (if you want to print directly from card) right now until someone releases an XD compatable printer, is to look at something that can print from a PCMCIA card. You can get a PCMCIA adapter for XD cards.

I recommend the Olympus P400 as a relatively bargain dye-sub printer with this feature. But the bottom line is, I'd still recommend that you print from the computer as the image data will be sent to the printer quicker through the computer rather than directly from the card.

CF and SM and XD or CD,
MS and MD and MM, please kill me.
And finally though not lastly PCMCIA,
which is at least, really fun to say.
