I have asked thie question of Adobe and HP Printer but I never got a clear answer so I am hoping someone here can help. I have the HP office jet G85 that is a printer, scanner, copy machine and fax all in one. My son typed up a document in word pad and then printed it. When I later went to view the document it was a PDF file and opened in the free acrobat viewer. My son is 11 and I asked him how he did that and he had no clue, said he wasn't trying to do that. When I go into my computer and into the printer folder I have something called acrobat PDF writer. I am told by HP and Adobe this means I can print to a PDF file and if I need it to use it. Well, I wouldn't be asking about it if I knew how to use it and I have gotten no directions on how I can do this. I have a lot of linedance step sheets that I would like to scan in and save as PDF files so I really would like to figure out how my son did this. I only have the free acrobat viewer no full version of acrobat or anyting except for something in the printer folder that says acrobat PDF writer. The first thing I did was search the help file but no luck on finding out how to do this. Any help appreciated.
I do not know the prescribed answer to your question but try opening a document and then either go to File, Send To> PDF Writer or File, Send To> print and select PDF Writer; when the print dialog box comes up check to see if PDF Writer is one of the selectable printers.
