Does it make sense to switch a web site from perl to mod_perl? Is mod_perl really faster? How much?

Yes it does. Miraplacid forum pages started working 5-12 times faster as soon as we switched to mod_perl. (5 is for the front page with extencive database query, 12 is for other pages)
